17 - 19 June 2011 in Hamburg

The Conference will begin on Friday with a reception in the historic Kaisersaal (Imperial Hall) in Hamburg Town Hall at the invitation of the Hamburg Senate. Guests will then cross the inner courtyard to the Börsensaal (Exchange Hall) in Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, where we will have the pleasure of welcoming Ulla Hamilton, Mayor of Stockholm, European Green Capital 2010, as guest speaker at a formal dinner. As the representative of the Hamburg business community, the Chamber of Commerce is closely involved in Hamburg’s European Green Capital 2011 programme. EWMD considers innovative management and ethically responsible behaviour – measured in an international context using ESG criteria – to be cornerstones in building business success.

The Saturday will begin with an introduction to the conference topic, “Shaping the Future – Sustainable Leadership”, in the form of a high-calibre presentation. We will then address the issue of the compatibility of “Progress and Research, the Future and Sustainability”. These questions will also be tackled in the course of the conference from an international perspective – Carolyn Buck-Luce, Global Life Science Sector Leader at Ernst & Young, will be one of the prominent guests, for example.
The three panel discussion then take up the issues of ESG criteria and sustainable leadership:

  • The first panel takes Environmental aspects as its theme.
  • The second panel tackles Governance aspects.
  • The third panel takes as its focus Social aspects, from values or change culture to Corporate Social Responsibility.
