Sigrid Hauenstein

Sigrid Hauenstein studied computer science at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg.
She started her professional career in 1980 as a software developer in the product development area of an international telecommunications equipment provider.

Since 1988 she has held various international leadership positions as a department head and project manager.

Since 2008 she has been running her own business as a consultant and coach in project management and organisational development.

Since 1989 she has been involved in various programmes to support women in their professional and leadership careers. German industry has invested a huge effort in these programmes but facts and figures show that basically no progress has been made. According to her personal experience this is not due to a lack of qualified women. It is due to men’s unwillingness to change, dominating all levels of management.

For this reason she was one of the first to sign the “Nuremberg Resolution”, an initiative calling for a quota regulation by law to increase the proportion of women on boards of directors and in leadership positions.
